This Thursday...

I'm really thankful for the small amounts of alone time I get once my ds is asleep. He's been a nightmare this week to get to sleep (like taking a couple hours to get to sleep at night despite him being soooooo tired) As frustrating as it is it really makes me apreciate every moment I get to myself. Sorry this isn't longer but I'm basking in some quietness while my ds sleeps and my dh is out playing some hockey. =)

Just what I was afraid of

I've been eying this print for quite some time but always decided against it for fear that it would be too girly. when I first found SOSdiapers they would sell out immediately and were really hard to acquire. I managed to snag one and it's been our favorite diaper ever since we got it. when I noticed this print up and available I decided to just go for it...maybe I'd luck out and there wouldn't be that much of the pink on mine. I ordered it and then patiently waited and waited (it actually got here quite quickly considering it was a semi-custom mail tends to be slower this time of year.
Well I got home to find a package sitting, waiting for me in the front hall and excitedly ripped it open only to find that the front of the diaper is mainly pic :( I was disappointed because I love this fabric and have been really wanting to get it for a while now. So now I have a dilemma....do I sell it and maybe get something else a little more boyish or do I hang onto it in a hopes that I have a little girl to put it on soon. I think I'm leaning to the latter only because I just really would hate to sell it and we are planning on TTC in Feb/March so I'll be starting a newborn stash soon enough anyways ;) If we don't have a girl next I can always sell it then I guess. I'm still trying to decide....

a little late *oops*

so I just realized I missed my thankful Thursday which is actually quite ironic given that it was the American Thanksgiving on Thursday....*blush*.....so anyways I've been really thankful for the good weather we've been having this week. One of my ds' favorite things to do is go for a walk outside which is really hard to do when it's rainy and miserable (which it is more often then not here during the fall/winter/spring ;)) This week, however, has been an unbelievable beautiful week weather wise and I've really enjoyed the chance to get out during the day. I always enjoy getting out with ds and just walking and listening to him chatter away. It's always so refreshing to get a little glimps at how exciting things are to him. I'm consistantly amazed by the way he soaks it all in.

Loving our Luxe

I was pleasantly surprised on Monday to get both my snap press (HOORAY!) and my Luxe cover in the mail. I was totally blown away that I got the Luxe that quickly seeing as how I bought it Thursday night and we don't have mail service on Saturdays here. anyways I tried the Luxe on right away and I love it. We got the s/m (I had second thoughts and almost also ordered a m/l) and it is actually almost too big, but because it is so stretchy it still fits great with tons of room to grow into it. I can't get over the softness of it and how beautiful it is. I actually am so scared to use it and ruin it but we used it today and I just love it so much that I'm just gonna have to get more *hehe*
I was also sooo excited to finally get the snap press. It only actually took a week to get here but I've been wanting one for so long now that I feel like I was waiting forever. I haven't had a chance to play with it at all yet but I think I'm gonna have a lot of fun with it. I've already been thinking what I can possibly add snaps to for fun. Oh and to top off the speedy shipping I got a bunch of extras thrown in with my order so that was another nice surprise.

one thing I've learned

...is that I really do not enjoy dying fabric. I should have known this because I took a fibre arts course in college and I didn't like it then either....sometimes I'm a slow learner. I dyed some stuff a few weeks ago, including a few prefolds. It's not that I didn't like the colours or how they turned out...I can't really explain why I don't like dying stuff I just don't ever wanna do it again haha. Oh well at least I gave it a try and now I know. Funny thing is I'm sure I'll try it again at some point and probably have the same reaction.

OH MY! I think I'm gonna throw up

WOW! I had my first hyena cart stalking experience yesterday and let me tell you it is not for the faint of heart LOL. I was sitting there hitting refresh over and over and over and over......all of a sudden I realize I'm seconds from the stocking and my heart starts pounding and I can hear the blood pumping in my ears. I hit refresh and it was seriously only 2 seconds after the stocking and half the stuff was gone....including what I wanted...I tried another size and it was there....Oh MAN I'm totally shaking as I hit the BIN button........and then I get a message that it is no longer available *doh* nothing like a surge of excitement to make you feel like throwing up haha. I was disappointed but I cheered myself up by buying some wool interlock.

.....And then I got an email....and there were going to be more stocked (hooray!!)....sometime that evening or later that day. I get that rush again but try not to sit glued to the computer all night. Thankfully I just happened to be on when I noticed that it was stocking and kept refreshing hoping to snag what I had wanted.....and I did so now a natural vanilla Luxe pull-on soaker is coming to me!!!!! ok can you tell I'm excited ;) I new they were hard to get but I really had no idea it was that crazy

I'm Thankful...

I've decided to post every Thursday about something I've been particularly thankful for over the week just as a way to stay grounded and not caught up in an attitude of dissatisfaction. I find it really easy to get caught up in always wanting more then I have or just not being satisfied with where we are in life and I just thought this wound be a great way to remind myself of lucky I really am ;)

We had a chance on the weekend to get down to Vancouver and go to Granville island where there is and awesome children's market and a public market. It was such a beautiful day, we got easy parking (which usually is not the case) and we had a great look around. The leaves were crisp and brightly coloured and the sun was out yet the air was really fresh and cool. It just made me so grateful to live where I do. On any given day you have the potential to head to the beach or into the mountains for a hike or skiing/snowboarding or into the city for great shopping or out into the country to a lake or for a picnic. how can you tell I love the pacific northwest? ;) anyways I just wanted to also share this pic from our day downtown

the last of the fluffy mail

I was so excited to get see that we got our package from Baby Hope's Cloth Diapers. I could barely wait to rip into the envelope. Not only was it fast shipping it was free shipping, and she sent a hand written thank-you note and a free velour wipe. I'm very impressed and will definitely have to order from her again. Our Baby Beehinds arrived today and omigoodness!! I cannot get over the softness. I know it probably wont stay this soft but I'm really loving it. It looks like there will be lots of room for my ds to grow into it, and I love the snap in doublers. I've never had this feature on any of our other diapers but I think it's a great idea. Check back for stash pics soon ;)

oh and to add to my excitement I got a notice that my snap press shipped today! YAY!!!! now this package is one I'm going to have a very, VERY hard time being patient for.

It's something I've wanted to do for months now and I've just decided to bite the bullet =) This does mean no more diaper buying though (I snuck in one more SOSdiaper last night before going cold turkey ;)) I can't wait to get sewing, sewing, sewing and then hopefully selling, selling, selling!! Just had to share my excitement =)

Fluffy Week

It's been a good week mail wise here. Out of the 4 packages I'm expecting I've gotten 3 of them. On Monday I got another HHOS in the colour butter, and then today I got some PUL and Aplix and then the sling rings I was waiting on. I'm gonna have to order the fabric I think because all my local shops either a) don't carry the type of fabric I want until spring/summer or b) carry it but not in the colour I'm looking for *sigh* Oh well, hopefully I'll be able to find it online. Anyways this is just a short little update. I've got one more diaper coming and then I'll have to do stash pics again.
