someone stop me!

I shouldn't be left alone with money to spend =) a friend told me about Baby Hope's Cloth Diapers (thanks Tanya ;)) and I just couldn't pass on the free shipping so I ordered a Baby Beehind Bamboo onesize. YAY! this is a diaper I've bee dying to try so I cannot wait for it to get here. it just shipped today so I have a while but still this is something I'm really looking forward to getting. I got it in the blue if anyone cares ;) once that gets here that's it for me. I have to make the rest of my diapers. I'll have to take some stash pics once everything is here. And can you believe I already can't find one of the snappis I just got *sigh* I swear I need a tracking device for those things.
Well dh had the day of today so we went hunting for fabric...specifically grey chambray for the ringsling I'm making, and it turns out that all the local stores don't carry chambray...at least not the grey color. I'm not impressed. I guess I'll have to look for it online which isn't really an issue as long as it doesn't cost too much in shipping.
That's pretty much it from here other them I'm still working out some kinks with my testers...I'm a little frustrated but I'm gonna just go at it tomorrow and hopefully get it sorted out....otherwise I'm going to plan "B"
Anyways I'll leave you with a babywearing pic from our trip to the pumpkin patch this weekend

well I didn't get any mail today, although I'm not really expecting any until early next week. I still always hope that I'll be surprised though. I'm currently waiting on three packages
  1. a butter yellow HHOS from For the Monster
  2. some PUL and some aplix from VeryBaby
  3. some large black aluminum sling rings from Slingrings

I have a pair of silver slingrings but I haven't seen them since we moved the beginning of July and I really want to make a ringsling like this or if I feel fancy maybe even this ;)

I also started my testers this week. I'm so excited I just need to dye them and finish them up and then I can mail them. HOORAY!!! also my dh offered to buy me a snap press so I just have to decide what would be better, the snap press now or more fabric and then wait to get the snap press. I hate making decisions! but at least this is a fun one ;) anyways that is all that is really new here. I'll post some picks of my finished products later.

oh and just to update on our Moshi...I had pretty much decided to sell it. Not really because I didn't like it but I just was unsure....anyways I wore it for a little bit tonight and wouldn't you know it I am really starting to like it. it's starting to soften up just enough that it is getting really comfy. I'm a fan and I'm definately not selling now.

M is for mail day

I was very excited to get our babylegs in the mail this afternoon. Honestly I'm so used to waiting for things from the states that I really wasn't expecting them anytime this week. I really love the colourway we got. It's called Scandia and I totally love it!!! Anyways just wanted to share a pic of my ds wearing them

a little carried away

ok well I'm inlove with our Happy Heiny's one-size diaper!!! I'm really, really impressed with how dry he was this morning even though he had completely soaker 2 microfleece inserts and with how well he slept last night. I have to admit that my ds is a horrible sleeper, I mean terrible!! But for the first time in quite a few nights (maybe even weeks) he slept a good solid 6.5-7 hrs and then another 4.5 or so before he woke up. This is huge for me!!! I think I can count on one hand the number of times he has slept through the night :( Anyways I'm totally side-tracking here. The first thing I did this morning after I had changed my ds was order another HH OS =) I started dreaming about having a lovely stash of pockets all the colours of the rainbow and quickly realized that if I wanted that many pockets I'd be broke faster then I can blink ;) So then I went to verybaby and ordered some PUL in ocean, celery, and light brown and some aplix (I already have some microfleece) so that I can just make my own pockets, haha, after that I promised dh that I wouldn't buy anything else for a while. Hopefully they turn out because then I can justify buying more colours ;)

Fluffy Mail

I got my first pocket diaper today!!! It's the new Happy Heiny's one-size diaper in the cow hide print and it's really cute, although the only PUL I've ever seen IRL are bummis covers which are so thick and soft so I was suprised at how thin the PUL on this is but it is really soft and the print is soooo cute. I'm really impressed with the size range on this too. It's a newer one so there is the extra row of snaps for the newborn setting and O fits it on the small setting and the tabs are touching/almost overlapping. so there is still 2 rise settings and alot of room in the waist for him to grow into. I think this is gonna be our nighttime diaper. I'm so used to him in pf/fitteds in wool or coverless at home so this HH does give him quite a booty LOL. We've only tryed it on but I'll let you know more after he's worn it tonight. Sorry I don't have pics yet but I'll try to post some soon

a little taste

I got other fabric last night as well but this is just a little sampling of the "pretty" fabrics I picked out. I also have other prints that I've collected into my stash but these were all neatly folded and accessible so I thought I would share =)

I took the plunge!!!

*yikes* I'm having a little panic attack here....so nothing new really ;) I've been working out ideas for my buisness for months now and I finally just decided to jump in and get some fabric and just go for it already. I have to say I'm actually really nervous about this and even though I'm also super excited somehow buying the fabrics and stuff just means I actually have to do it now. No more just saying I'm going to and then finding reasons why I can't. I just have to keep telling myself "you can do this, you can do this"

MOSHI

HOORAY!!!! it finally arrived! I haven't had much of a chance to really wear it so I don't really have a review yet. but I just wanted to get a pic of it up seeing as how I said I would ;) it's not the greatest but we are planning on going to the pumpkin patch this weekend as long as it it not raining here so I'll have some better pics then.
I also ordered some babylegs today in the scandia print because I just thought they were too cute not to get =) hopefully I won't have to wait as long for them

it's all in the 'Gnome'

I have an awesome book out out of the library right now called nature babies which has lots of fun organinc knitting and craft/toy ideas. Anyways while O was down for his nap yesturday I made him this
He seemed to love it right away and way happily carrying it around =) it's a little smaller then the pattern called for but I didn't realize I was suppose to enlarge it until I was trying to tie the knot hands. Needless to say this gnome is now without hands but I'll have to make some adjustments next time

Good news!!!!

I got a package notice in the mail today saying that I had a parcel that would be available for pick-up at the PO tomorrow! YAY!!!! I'm assuming it's finally our Moshi and I cannot wait to try it out. I feel like a kid on Christmas. And I can't express what great timing this is because we have just started incorporating a nice walk where I wear my ds down to sleep for the night. He get's soooo excited when he sees me getting out our mei tai =) It's really helped him fall asleep a little earlier and it's saved my sanity a bit.....now if only I could get him to stay asleep.....but I suppose that will come too. I'll be sure to post pics and a review of the Moshi once I have it.

i heart babywearing

my son has been going through a particularly trying time right now. He is only napping once a day now, and it is a struggle to get him down, his night sleeping is fretful and restless and in short little intervals all night long....needless to say I'm incredibly sleep deprived with a little boy that is not only fussy and tired all day but he's really testing us right now to figure out his boundaries, he's teething some molars, and I think he is frustrated because he's not really talking a lot yet; he has quite a few words he know and even more he understands but he just can't always express what he wants which leads to fits on his side and lots of hair-pulling on mine ;) anyways I wanted to get out for a walk this evening to work of some of the many turkey dinners I indulged in this weekend (gotta love thanksgiving for that) so I strapped my ds into our mei tai on my back and headed out for a brisk walk around the neighborhood with my mom and about half way through our walk he was out. I managed to get home, get upstairs into his room, get him untied and off my back (with help from my mom) and into bed) all at 7:40 pm!!!!! WOW!!! that is sooooo early for him. I'm hoping he has a good night and stays asleep for me. I'm thinking I may have to make this walk a nightly routine now. Not only will it be nice to get him in bed a little earlier it'll be nice for my waistline too ;)

a little better

well the diaper rash seems to be getting a little better finally. I say better only because the flaming red scalded look has pretty much gone but there are now a couple raw patches....they aren't very big but still look awful. I'm really thinking it might be a yeast infection. he's never had one so I don't really know, I'll have to look into it tomorrow. It's thanksgiving here this weekend so I don't think I'd be able to get him in before monday. Hopefully it's not a yeast infection and he just keeps getting better. I've discovered that we really love burt's bees diaper ointment. I've tried a ton of different creams and that on is the only one that has seemed to make a difference...I'm gonna have to go and get some more tomorrow.

On a side note I did some uploading to my flickr account if any of you are interested. I didn't add anything to my cding set but I did add a couple new sets. there is a link in my sidebar to our stash pics or you can check out my pics here

I broke down...

...and ordered 2 snappis and a happy heiny's one-size diaper in the cow print =) I'm so excited to finally try HH. I figured that I "needed" to get it seeing as how we are switching to cloth full time (yikes) I have to admit that I am really nervous. I've liked the security of going back to sposies if I'm tired of sick or whatever. I actually had him in cloth last night but he was soaked by about 20 to 6 this morning and he was in a reg. ubcpf with and infant ubcpf trifolded in the center and a mother-ease stay dry liner on top with a bsww covering it all, can you say ginormous booty, LOL.
I'm actually thinking about starting to potty-train. I'd always thought that it was best to wait until they were showing signs of readiness and were farely verbal but I recently took a book called Diaper free before 3 by Jill M. Lekovic. I haven't had a chance to read much of it but what I have read makes perfect sense. I think we may have to go potty shopping this weekend. I just wish I had read the book about 6 months ago.

well...

it looks like I should save up some money and work out a nighttime diapering system....my ds has the worst bleeding diaper rash :'( he spent a week in sposies because he was having such horrible diarrhea I just couldn't keep up with the laundry...he was fine, not even the slightest rash. As soon as the diarrhea cleared up he was back in cloth. Then he was in sposies for a day or so because it was the weekend and I was doing laundry (we are out alot on weekends so he is often in sposies, especially sundays because we have my dh's hockey really early and then go straight to church so it's a long morning) Anyways, he started to get a bad diaper rash so I had him back in cloth and it cleared right up....well today was laundry day again so he's been in a sposie again and when I changed him last his whole bottom looked scalded and he was bleeding in quite a few places....my poor little guy....he was so upset that he just cried and cried all afternoon even though we both tried to dstract him and cheer him up. He's now asleep on our bed at 6:49 pm which is so unlike him as he's just started only napping once a day in the last few weeks.
He's had this before when he was just new and that is why we started cloth in the first place (and discovered that he can't use Pampers because they always give him a rash) but now I don't know, is it possible that his stomach acid is out of wack from his bout of diarrhea? then we did it clear up when he was in cloth? could it be a yeast infection? He's also teething (he just cut his first molar on the weekend) so could that be it? I have no idea but I feel horrible for the poor guy. I guess I'll have to build up my stash a bit....oh darn I'm gonna have to shop ;)

#13-19

ok I'm just adding a couple more to my 'List' ;)

    13. Dream-Eze fitted
    14. Baby BeeHind bamboo and wool wraps
    15. Pampered Cheeks
    16. Kiwi Pie (anything by them)
    17. Firefly or Fuzbaby fitteds and covers
    18. Monkey Doodlez
    19. DryBees Fleece Night Time Pocket Diaper

practice does make perfect

It looks as though I have a black hole in our room that swallows up snappis and other rather useful items. I've given up looking for our snappi. Some day I'll order another one but in the mean time I've been getting alot of pinning practice. the first few times the diaper was hanging of my poor ds. He kept stopping to look at it like "what is going on here?" Well I'm managing to get them alot tighter and I thing I may actuallt prefer pinning our embellished pre-fitteds. The bottom claw never really grabbed the print fabric anyways and I can get a snugger shorter rise with only one pin so it's just as fast, if not faster, then a snappi. anyways just wanted to share our experience ;) Oh and here's a pick of our first pin job for a laugh

latest project

Well this was something I was working on last week but I didn't have the pics uploaded to the computer that I usually blog from. Anyways, I bought a second-hand wool sweater and chopped it up to make a pair of pull-on soakers for my ds. they turned out alright...there are a few things I'll change about the pattern before I'd try them again. Also I need to felt them a bit more because they are too big. her is a pic of O in it for the first time (he was helping his grandma reorganize the cupboard so please excuse the mess ;)

gives me hope

another Mama that ordered her Moshi at the same time as I did just got hers today so I'm so excited!!!! I've given up hope that it will get here this week (stupid Canadian post) but still I am just so anxious for it to get here already =)

my 'wanting to try list'

so I've really had very little exposure to CD's other then pf's motherease/sandy's and an SOSdiaper and I was just thinking the other night about the diapers that are on my 'want to try someday list' can you believe I've never even seen a pocket diaper IRL? crazy. Anyways I am always making mental lists and then when I get a little extra fun money I can never remember what it was I had wanted so I'm gonna write my list down here so I can come back to it ;)
  1. Little Beetle diapers and covers (velcro and pull-on)
  2. Happy Heiny's one-size in the cowprint (I'm not even sure if I can get this yet so if anyone know's I'd love to know too ;))
  3. Luxe soaker
  4. WCW soaker
  5. goodmama fitted
  6. Kissaluvs (but I want the newborn to go with the KL0's first =))
  7. speaking of nb diapes I wanna try the swaddlebees nb organic velours next time too
  8. swaddlebees cotton terry fitted
  9. thirsties covers
  10. sugar peas windpro fleece covers
  11. Llamajammas
  12. crankypants

pk well that is a little longer then I expected and I'm pretty sure I've missed a couple things too haha.

well I should try to get some sleep I guess. My ds has been getting up earlier then usual so I've been lacking in the sleep dept. lately.
